Weekend Form Statistics
A break from the League for our two first teams this weekend, as we look to book a couple of Cup Final slots. Spa Athletic are the visitors for the Whitworth Cup Semi on Saturday. As holders, we have great hopes of at least making the final again this year, and on paper should have the ability to see off our Harrogate Premier League opposition. But Spa are riding high in the League, on a great away run and free scoring (some big wins along the way, and they can also boast having final scores this season of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9 goals but no 6!). Together with a poor result for the home team last weekend a tricky tie looks in the offing.
Speaking of Tricky, Richard Donohoe will hope to book the second final of the season for his Sunday team away to Harrogate CSC in the FA Challenge. They are also enjoying a great season, although the Claro Sunday Title now looks beyond them, as FC Boston have 2 games in hand and are 3 points clear. Encouragement for Richard though should come from our previous meeting this season; we ran out 4-2 winners away in the League in October. Another difficult one to call.
Sherburn Reserves are not displaying the sort of form that their Senior side is, and they languish too close to the foot of the league table for their comfort. But throw in the fact that their "firsts" have a weekend off coupled with a mini "wobble" for the visitors and again who knows?
Our 'A' side look to have the only clear cut fixture on our hands, and sadly the odds looked stacked against us. Clifford are third in the League and should take runners up slot behind the incredible Silsden who can't stop winning and scoring. Clifford don't do too badly in that department and look very strong favourites, although they do seem to perform better at home. Rob and his boys have had some creditable results of late, a high scoring draw at Burley and a defeat by "only 2-0" at Silsden suggesting things are coming together a little. Just a couple of wins could make the table look so much better for us, but anything at all from this fixture will be tough.
Please note that home and away form is in all competitions as far as we can ascertain, so wins and losses can differ slightly to those shown for League only. Opposition stats courtesy of The FA FullTime websites.
