Weekend Form Statistics

A tremendous win against Champions Bardsey 3 weeks ago was followed by two of the worst showings of the season by our Senior side. The chance to get on track doesn't get any tougher than this week's though, as Champions in waiting Carlton are the visitors. Easy 5-0 winners at home in the reverse fixture in September, Carlton are sitting on a 14 point cushion over their closest challengers, whilst the crucial gap to Bardsey is 18 points (but Bardsey have 5 games in hand). Whitkirk were surprise winners (2-1) though last week so they are beatable.

Richard Donohoe will look for his side to bounce back from their extra time heartache in the Challenge Cup semi last week. The Ship Inn are are division below Rich's side, but will be on a high following an impressive 12-0 thrashing of Kirk Deighton Rangers last week. They also stuck 9 past our Sunday reserves earlier in the season at Aldborough Road, so they know where the net is! The Claro Sunday League Cup Semi is at 11am on Sunday at Aldborough Road.

The closest clash on paper is the Reserves visit to Beeston, who sit one place below, equal on points but with a game in hand. Other than leaders Rothwell, these two sides are the last with realistic hopes of a league title, but Dave Ekin must be wondering whether his early season form was all a dream. Recent results have been puzzling, so a tough game beckons.

As our 'A' side look to avoid relegation, a win against Ripon City 'A' would be manna from heaven to Rob Lowe this weekend. Time is running out for them though and anything would be a boost for this mainly inexperienced team. The older heads such as Chappy and Craig Tetley will not give up though so hope springs eternal!
