Weekend Form Statistics
Richard Donohoe will feel deja vu as we attempt the League Cup Semi Final that was a victim of last week's snow, so I might as well just repeat last week's words! The Ship Inn are a division below Rich's side, but will be on a high following an impressive 12-0 thrashing of Kirk Deighton Rangers two weeks ago. They also stuck 9 past our Sunday reserves earlier in the season at Aldborough Road, so they know where the net is! The Claro Sunday League Cup Semi is at 11am on Sunday at Aldborough Road.
Daz Ekin will be hoping last week's showing against the title favourites Carlton will continue into this week and another fixture against top opposition, Bardsey, only 4 weeks after an impressive 2-1 win against last season's champions at Aldborough Road. Their home form of late is a little puzzling, alternating wins with defeats. If the pattern continues, then Daz will be a happy man. One of those defeats though was against Carlton, and Bardsey will feel they owe us one. Another interesting point is that Bardsey are without a draw in the League, home or away, this season!!
Ripon City Reserves seem to have the edge over our Reserves, having played twice and won twice. However both fixtures were at Mallorie Park Drive, and despite the recent bad run of form away for Dave Ekin, he can look to a perfect home record of late. There again, it is a brave man who attempts to predict the outcome of a local derby!!
Kirkby Malzeard have shipped 26 goals in their last three fixtures (including a 14-2 home defeat to Silsden) and look like the division's whipping boys, with an overall goal deficit of 68!! Rob Lowe will be aware though that many opposition managers might bundle us into the same category, sitting only one place above. He knows we have a fight to avoid relegation, yet continues to work wonders with a very youthful squad, and every game gives more experience. Basement battles are never predictable and rarely pretty, but three points here could save the season, with both the return fixture and Spa Athletic to come, together with Ripon playing Spa tomorrow. A good combination of results are essential.
A point of note, the final Sunday Reserve fixture of the season is now scheduled for Sunday 6th April.
