BOROUGHBRIDGE RES 1 WHITKIRK WANDERERS RES 1
Compared to last Saturday this was an unrecognisable Bridge side from the one that was dumped out of the County Trophy competition matching their visitors who had a hundred per cent league record coming into this fixture. Bridge looked a stronger and better balanced outfit and they certainly needed to be against a Wanderers side that had a good blend of youth and experience in their side with Matthew Potter proving to be a very capable keeper and centre forward Steve Scott an excellent outlet for them. Bridge probably had the better of the opening exchanges but were rocked on 37 minutes when Ollie Barton dropped an innocuous corner at the feet of Phil Schouller for an easy tap in. This rocked the home side and they were fortunate not to have any further setbacks before the break. Two minutes after the restart Bridge were back on terms when a hard low cross from the enigmatic Paul Smith was met with a sweet Tom Smith drive that gave Potter no chance. The Wanderers keeper later denied Smith with an excellent save and in the last few minutes it was the turn of Barton as he kept out Scott's goal bound effort. This resulted in a late flurry from the home side and a sequence of corners but Bridge managed to hold out for a thoroughly deserved draw.
