LEEDS CITY RES. 8 BOROUGHBRIDGE 'A' 1.
Bridge never expected to get anything out of this League Cup tie against a strong and capable Leeds City side but it was only in the last ten minutes that they lost their shape and resistance conceding a nap hand of goals in the process. George Leech gave Bridge a surprise 25 minutes lead and it was not until the stroke of half time that Rob Potter equalised for the home side. Within five minutes of the restart Jason Millar put the home side ahead and Bridge suffered further setbacks when injuries forced the withdrawals of their stalwart central defender Chris Chapman and the experienced Paul Norfolk. Millar then scored his second just past the hour mark but it was not until the 82nd minute when Mick Ward Matthew added their fourth that Bridge capitulated. City took full advantage with Ward scoring the penultimate goal of the afternoon and Tony McKeown finishing the job with a five minute hat trick.
