HARROGATE STYANS RES 3 BOROUGHBRIDGE 'A' 3
Three times Bridge got their noses in front only to be pegged back on each occasion but this could not be laid at the door of keeper James Cooper who put in a stellar performance to give his side their first point of the season. They got off to a good start when Mark Burniston, who is taking the transition of Junior to Senior Football in his stride, opened the scoring after only ten minutes. It did not take Styans long to equalise through Damien Stanton and it was a series of fine saves by Cooper that kept Bridge in the game before Burniston came up trumps again with his second, seven minutes before the break. George Wilkinson brought the sides level again just past the hour mark, only for substitute Wayne Fisher to beat Tim Fryer within minutes of coming on. The lead lasted for three minutes as Styans dynamic midfielder player Steve Beecroft restored parity for the home side with Bridge surviving the last eleven minutes thanks to the heroics of Cooper and some resolute defending.
