BOROUGHBRIDGE 'A' 1 SPA ATHLETIC RES 3.
After claiming their first point of the season last Saturday Bridge went into this Alverton Trophy game full of confidence only to fall at the first hurdle to Spa Athletic. They could not have got off to a better start as a cross from Lewis Barlow was deflected into his own net by Tony Simpson and it took two first class saves from John Hebden to deny Paul Scaife and Mark Burniston consolidating their position. The promising opening was negated on 35 minutes when Steve Kilroy equalised for Spa and that is how it stayed until the 68th minute when they went ahead through Cruse Rampnel. Bridge threatened briefly but Spa generally had the upper hand and confirmed their passage into the next round with a Phil Rawlinson strike three minutes from time.
