FIELD SPORTS & SOCIAL RES 3 BOROUGHBRIDGE RES 0
Five backwords, a long trip to Field and a tacky playing surface did not augur well and so it proved as Bridge went down to successive defeats. It could have been so different if new boy Kieran Cunningham had shown the same composure in finishing the chance his dribbling skill had created. As in previous weeks Bridge suffered from their inability to defend corners and on 23 minutes they failed to pick up Joe Shaw at the far post as he headed home an Ashworth corner. Four minutes later Field added a second as James Cooper fumbled a long clearance to leave Ashworth with the simplest of chances and this is how it stayed until the break. The second half started in similar fashion to the first but this time it was Andy Hall who dribbled his way past two defenders only to slice his shot over the bar. Dave Coffey then headed over when well placed and Hall has a close range effort scrambled away before Ollie Barton switched into his attacking Sunday role and headed the ball past his own keeper. There was no way back for Bridge and even Manager Dave Ekin had to come for the last 23 minutes to replace the injured Gary Shaw.
