BOROUGHBRIDGE 0 SHERBURN WHITE ROSE 2
Despite going behind in the 7th minute Bridge were in this League Cup tie for the first 45 minutes but once Sherburn added a second goal shortly after the break their passage to the quarter finals of the League Cup competition was never in doubt. Marc Bradley opened the scoring for the visitors and though Bridge enjoyed some good possession they rarely breached the Sherburn defence with their best effort of the half by Ollie Uffindall bringing an excellent save from Simon Hudson. The main action of the second half was packed into the first four minutes with Adam Priestley the source of Bridge’s problems. In the opening minute the Sherburn striker hit a superb volley which found Alastair Hogg well placed to save, a minute later he shot wide from six yards out after latching on to a long clearance but quickly made amends as he cut in from the left to beat Hogg at his near post. Dan Thirkell and Stu Henry worked tirelessly in midfield for the home side without anything to show for their efforts as Sherburn saw out the game in relative ease.
