ROBIN HOOD ATHLETIC RES 1 BOROUGHBRIDGE RES 0
With seven backwords to contend with Manager Dave Ekin was forced to travel with a makeshift squad which was reflected in a disjointed below par display and a pointless return. The end result, however, could have been so different if Jamie Smith had taken a golden opportunity in the opening minutes which was followed by another couple of chances before Athletic had time to settle. Bridge’s profligacy served as a fillip to the home side who gained in confidence and began to exert their own pressure. The Bridge defence looked pretty solid until they conceded to a route one goal in the 61st minutes as Timmy Barton beat his namesake Ollie to a long clearance to walk the ball into an empty net. Chances did fall Bridge’s way but Mark Finlay stood firm to deny Danny Webster and Marc Burniston before producing the save of the game in the dying seconds to turn away a Dave Coffey effort bound for the top corner.
