OTLEY TOWN 0 BOROUGHBRIDGE 2
Bridge’s resurgence continued on Saturday with this victory which took them to the dizzy heights of 10th in the League. They started confidently and in the 6th minute Steve Tovey ventured forward, linking with Paul Eagling, after breaking up an Otley attack and when the home defence failed to clear his cross Eagling was on hand to smash the ball home. Shortly afterwards, from Jamie Simms free kick, Chris Alderson took the ball on the full and turned to hit a spectacular volley only to be denied by an excellent save from Alastair Hogg and not to be outdone home keeper Pete Galley made an excellent save to keep out a dipping effort from Steve Coghlin. In an open contest it was Otley’s turn to have the next opportunity as they cut open the Bridge defence but Ben Greenhow was just off target which was probably pivotal as two minutes later an Andy Kent free kick was knocked home by Nick Murphy. Bridge failed with a couple of good chances to consolidate their position before half time and after the break it was Otley who were on the offensive but when danger threatened they managed to get bodies in the way generally restricted the home side to long range efforts which failed to trouble Hogg. As the game went into the last quarter Bridge again took control with Kent and Murphy both missing good chances and five minutes from time Martin Hutchinson skimmed the bar following an excellent Bridge move.
