KIRKBY MALZEARD 0 BOROUGHBRIDGE 0
Bridge paid the penalty for spurning the few chances on offer as they went out of the Whitworth Cup in a penalty shoot out. As one would expect from a Phil Ambler team Kirkby were not fazed by the opposition and they had the better of the first half where only a brilliant Hogg save denied Paul Abbott. Nevertheless it was Bridge who looked like taking the half time lead when Paul Eagling rounded Mark Rimmer only to give Foyle time to retrieve the situation in the deteriorating playing conditions. After the break and playing into the strong wind, Bridge were the more fluent of the two sides and created the better of the opportunities. The final scoreline, however tells it own story and when extra time failed to separate the two sides it was left to the penalty shoot out which Kirkby eventually won 6-5.
