SHERBURN WHITE ROSE RES 2 BOROUGHBRIDGE RES 1
Despite having their keeper sent off in the first half and going a goal behind Sherburn belied their lowly league position with a determined performance to overcome a fragmented Bridge outfit. Bridge lost Sean Brockhurst with an injury in the warm up which forced an earlier than expected debut from 16 year old Stephen Coles and it was the youngster’s darting run that resulted in the dismissal on 27 minutes of Sherburn keeper Lee Kelsey. Although nothing came of the subsequent free kick it was Bridge who took the lead in the 1st minute of the second half when Paul Smith hammered home a pass from Lee Brook that gave the stand in keeper no chance. Bridge, however, failed to capitalize on their advantage and were pegged back on 74 minutes when an unmarked Chris Parnaby fired home a Jamie Potter corner and three minutes later Paul Diamond was left stranded by Mark Bradley precision free kick.
