BOROUGHBRIDGE RES 0 BEESTON ST ANTHONY’S RES 7
The last thing Bridge wanted to do was to make it easy for the visitors but that is just what happened and Beeston took full advantage as they coasted to a comfortable victory. On seven minutes the usually reliable Steve Kirby gifted Sean Sturman the opener and six minutes later whilst Bridge players were left complaining, with some justification, about a poor decision Beeston got on with the game and Steve Williams slotted home the second. ‘Bridge had a great chance to get back into the game within a minute as Chris Pattison incisive through ball found Paul Smith only for the striker’s to miss the target with his usually reliable left peg. Paul Graham then produced excellent saves to deny Pattison and Mark Burniston which proved pivotal as Lee Parker headed home the third from a Sturman free kick on the half hour mark and five minutes later he was left with a simple header as Dan Daly finished off an excellent move with a pin point cross. ‘Bridge survived any more disasters until the hour mark when Williams was left unmarked to score from close range and Andy Preece, with an assist from Steve Brockhurst, made it six before Lee Parker completing his hat trick two minutes from time.
