BEESTON ST ANTHONY’S RES 1 BOROUGHBRIDGE RES 0
After their 7-0 drubbing less than a month ago Bridge showed character, determination and discipline before going down to a dubious 75 minute goal from the home side. It was Bridge who had the first real opportunity as Dave Coffey chipped over Danny King’s goal and thereafter it was a matter of self-control as the home side showed why they are clear favorites to take the League title. The breakthrough came on 75 minutes when the home side got a ‘soft’ corner and from the resultant kick Steve Williams was left unmarked at the back post to hit home whilst Bridge, with some justification, were expecting a free kick as keeper Paul Diamond was taken out. ‘Bridge were now forced to open up but they never seriously troubled the home defence and even when they posed a treat the marginal decisions went against them.
