BOROUGHBRIDGE 4 THORNER 0
After a five week break the sterling efforts of Manager Richard Donohoe and groundsman John Horner enabled Bridge to get a fixture under their belts with their labours rewarded by a convincing home victory. Bridge’s opening goal on 12 minutes was very much route one football as Alastair Hogg’s long clearance was flicked on by Paul Stephenson for Paul Eagling to slot past Andy Britton in the Thorner goal and ten minutes later they doubled their advantage through Eagling who rounded a defender to smash home the second following good link play between Stephenson and Paul Scaife. Stephenson got on the score sheet himself on the half hour mark with a tap in from a corner but it was not all Bridge with the visitors failing to capitalize on a great chance as Henry Moorhouse rounded Hogg but then failed to hit the target. The second half followed a similar yet goalless pattern with Bridge having the majority of the play but always tending to over elaborate in the last third whereas Thorner broke quickly when the opportunity presented itself only for Jason Albrecht to waste their best chance of the half with a fresh air shot. The last word was left to Eagling as he took down a great ball from Mark Burniston on his chest and fired into the bottom corner for his hat trick.
