BLACK SWAN BARWICK 1 BOROUGHBRIDGE 2
On a muddy surface and down to a bare eleven Manager Richard Donohoe shuffled his pack to good effect with some forceful midfield play from Ben Clayton and Steven Paffett allowing Danny Webster to link up with Donohoe and Paul Scaife to give him a positive outcome. The game was only four minutes old when Scaife drilled in the opener from 18 yards following some neat interplay between Webster and Clayton and they would have consolidated their position if Donohoe had not missed a sitter two minutes later. Bridge were enjoying the better of the play until the 31st minutes when a series of fresh air clearances left Daniel Connell with a simple tap in from two yards. It took Bridge until the second half to regain their impetus with the pace of Bone and Mark Burniston leaving Swan’s full backs Matt Baron and Johnny Ripton in a spin and it was Burniston who broke the deadlock taking the ball from well inside his own half to pick out Scaife, ghosting in at the back post, to smash home his second. Bridge defended the remaining time with much more composure and the rapid counter attacks from Bone, Webster and Burniston always threatened more goals.
