BOROUGHBRIDGE 0 SHERWOOD 4
Bridge’s hopes of maintaining their interest in the League title were disseminated in the morning mist by a strong Sherwood outfit but the disappointing aspect for them was the comprehensive scoreline which did not reflect their contribution to the contest. The visitors got the important first goal following a flowing move which was finished off by Matt Donnelly and only two excellent saves by Alastair Hogg kept them in the game. Bridge also had their chances and twice they were denied the equalizer by goal line clearances and on 35 minutes Paul Eagling rattled post following a good lay off by Paul Scaife with Simon Old well beaten. This was very much the nature of the match as play oscillated from one end to the other until the 70th minute when Bridge were caught out by a incisive counter attack and a clinical finish from Joel Freestone to put the visitors firmly in the driving seat. It was throw caution to the wind time for Bridge but they could not find a way through a solid Sherwood defence and a second from Freestone on 88th minute and a volley from sub Dion Surr in injury time gave the scoreline the emphatic appearance.
