BECKWITHSHAW RES 3 BOROUGHBRIDGE 'A' 1.
A young, inexperienced Bridge outfit took a surprise lead in the 6th minute through Paul Scaife who drilled his shot into the bottom corner after a Chris Wood throw was flicked on by a home defender. Most of the play was confined to the combative midfield area and for some of the Bridge players it brought home the harsh reality of the transition from Junior to Senior soccer. 'Shaw's equaliser ironically came from a Bridge throw which they gave away and a cross from the right was converted by Dan Skelton. Steve Warburton then had a header saved by McKenzie and Watts was just off target but the home side also had a host of chances but Bridge managed to hang on until the break. Five minutes into the second half, however, Chris Lawrence was left unmarked to chip over the advancing Fisher and though Bridge had one period of four successive corners they generally lacked the nous to break down an experienced home guard.  Skelton wrapped the game up three minutes from time when he the time and freedom of the penalty to beat Fisher.
