BOROUGHBRIDGE  'A' 3 SPA ATHLETIC RES 1.
Fielding only two players over the age of 21 years Bridge 'A' displayed a steely determination to overcome an experienced Spa side full of confidence following their 12-0 demolition of Kirkby Malzeard the previous week. A speculative Callum Willey volley tested keeper Steve James in the opening minutes but generally it was Spa who held sway in the opening exchanges with the pace of Johnny Hewison and Ollie Gill causing the main threat. Bridge survived and through Chris Stephenson, Andy O'Hare and the pacey Ollie Bone they began to exert their pressure.  A series of corners followed and a minute from the break they got the breakthrough when an O'Hare effort was blocked and Willey powered in the opener. This was the fillip Bridge needed and they increased their lead on 56 minutes as James could only parry a Wayne Fisher corner into his own net.  Simon Hunter then brought the best out of Bridge keeper James Cooper but on 65 minutes he was beaten by Zac Drummond after a Spa corner. Steve Kilroy then had a goal disallowed, Bridge a player sent off and the home side were unlucky not to increase the lead as Tom Ekin hit a post from the free kick. Ten minutes from time O'Hare put Johnny Richardson clear down the wing and from his cross Steve Warburton stooped low to head in Bridge's third which resulted in the visitors also being reduced to ten men.
