BOROUGHBRIDGE 5 SHERWOOD 3
Bridge's Claro League side completed a successful weekend thanks, in the main, to a string of fine saves from Alastair Hogg and some woeful Sherwood finishing. The home side started poorly and it was no more than Sherwood deserved when Shaun Latimer put them in front after only 15 minutes. A minute later the visitors conceded a free kick 20 yards from goal with the quick thinking Matt Uffindall stroking home the equaliser past a surprised Steve Weatherall. Even this did not spark Bridge into life as they gave possession away time and time again but Sherwood failed to press home their advantage until 2 minutes before the break with Latimer again the beneficiary of some sloppy play. The half time break seemed to benefit Bridge as it was a much improved performance after the interval. On 50 minutes Chris Stephenson brought the teams level, a minute later Ollie Uffindall gave Bridge the lead for the first time and on 56 minutes Stephenson struck a tremendous 25 yards free kick into the top corner of Weatherall's net. Sherwood came back strongly but Hogg showed all his experience and produced two exceptional saves before Frazer Lancaster finished off a good move to reduce the deficit in the 82nd minute. For the second time in the match Bridge responded within a minute as Paul Eagling broke through to beat Weatherall at the second attempt and hijack the points.
MOM Chris Stephenson.

Unfortunately for Bridge a good weekend of results was spoilt by the news that their Sunday Team Manager Ian Paffett was having to give up the post due to work commitments.
