RIPON CITY RES 2 BOROUGHBRIDGE RES 0
Bridge's ineptitude over the opening 45 minutes not only resulted in their first defeat of the season but also a bit of local pride as Ripon proved more up to the task. Playing away for the first time Bridge lacked cohesion and organisation and it was no more than the home side deserved when they took the lead on 20 minutes through Steve Long. The pace and movement of Tom Leeming proved to be a constant threat and on 43minutes he found himself space to strike home Ripon's second. The second half brought a distinct improvement from Bridge but they failed to make the most of their chances and their day was summed up when Tony Harrison was sent off in the 6th minute of injury time for handball and in the 9th minute Ben Darville blazed over a penalty. Bridge will certainly be looking for a turnaround for their trip to Lindley Liberal Club in the Challenge Trophy.
