LINDLEY LIBERAL CLUB 2 BOROUGHBRIDGE RES 1.
Bridge travelled to Huddersfield to face Division 2 side Lindley only to exit the Challenge Trophy in the first round as they failed to adapt to a poor playing surface. The game was only three minutes in when a cross from Gary Holmes caught out a static Bridge defence and Darren Morris fired in the opener. This set the pattern for an opening half that the home side dominated and only a string of fine saves by Tony Harrison kept Bridge in the game. Their only effort of note was a Ben Darville shot that failed to trouble home keeper Tony Farrell but the opening 10 minutes of the second half it was Bridge who were the dominant force. It was Darville again who had their best opportunity from a superb Andy Hall cross which was probably a pivotal moment in the game as shortly afterwards Steve Perrin added a second for the home side. Bridge were thrown a lifeline on 72 minute when Waddington converted a Darville corner and despite constant pressure it was the visitors who posed the greater threat with Harrison keeping the scoreline respectable with some excellent late saves.
