BOROUGHBRIDGE 'a' 3 Harlow Hill Res 3 (lost 3-1 on penalties).
For the fourth time this season Bridge failed to beat Harlow Hill but, o0n this occasion, they have only themselves to blame as they exited the Alverton Trophy. They took the lead on 20 minutes through Ross Mardon and Chris Chapman doubled their advantage on 31minutes. Within three minute however an incisive Harlow move cut through the home defence and Nick Smith made the best of the opportunity. Bridge continued to have the better of the game with Steve Warburton guilty of missing two guilt edged chances before Paul O'Reilly headed home a deep Fran Wilson cross on 63 minutes. Still Bridge continued to have the better of the play only to find Michael Recchia unwavering in the Harlow goal.  When Warburton scored in the 103rd minute following a goalmouth scramble they should have killed off the game but once again they were punished for squandering their opportunities when Lee Wilkinson hit home a cracker 4 minutes from the end. Bridge took the early initiative in the penalty shoot out but Recchia saved the next two and a glaring miss from Paul Norfolk put Harlow into the next round.
