Bridge had little difficulty progressing to the next round of the Hulme Cup even if the margin of victory was down to a couple of goalkeeping errors rather than a superior performance. A brace from Paul Smith in the opening 15 minutes paved the way with Jason Horn reducing the deficit on 21 minutes with a smart finish. A Dave Coffey free kick put Bridge back on track and a Steve Kirby headed goal consolidated their position just before the break. Paul Smith completed his hat trick on 66 minutes and the best was reserved until last when Chris Stephenson finished off an excellent move three minutes from time.
