Although the heavy and consistent rain made playing conditions difficult Thorner's laisser-faire attitude made Bridge's passage to the next round of the League Challenge Cup that much easier. Phil Wix soon got rid of any hangover with a hat trick, Chris Stephenson who was the motivating force behind much of Bridge's good work also bagged three with Dan Saxon the other scorer for the home dies.
