REGENT INN 6 - 4 BOROUGHBRIDGE In this top of the table clash, in difficult conditions, both teams provided a very entertaining game. Regent Inn got off to a great start, when defender, Damien Newman, fired in at the far post. Within the first ten minutes, it was two nil, when Gareth King pounced on a defensive error, to slot home Boroughbridge finally, 'got out of bed', when in the 11th minute, David Berniston, shouldered the ball in from a corner. The two goal lead was then restored from the penalty spot by, Jake Hutchinson, after keeper Hogg had brought down the forward. At 3-1, it looked a 'tall order' for Boroughbridge, but they eventually took full control, and by half-time, they were leading by four goals to three, after two strikes from Ollie Uffindall(26 penalty and 30 minutes), and a deflected effort by Chris Stephenson(45 minutes). In the second-half, Boroughbridge were in total control, and should have increased their lead, Phil Wix twice going close, and claims for a penalty after Johnny Brear was uphended, fell on 'deaf ears' This gave Regent Inn the impetus they required, and in the 70th Minute, Hutchinson scored his second of the game. The pressure finally paid off, when two strikes from Matt Drury(83 and Well done to all of the lads who turned up for this fixture, leaving many others who didn't, to ' HANG THEIR HEADS IN SHAME'. |
