KNARESBOROUGH RES 2 BOROUGHBRIDGE RES 0.
After a three week lay off Bridge can have few complaints about this result as it was their own inability to score that cost them the points. The first ten minutes started so promisingly and they could have been three up with ex Boro' player Paul Smith being particularly profligate. To compound matters Jonathan Barker fine debut for Bridge was marred on 24 minutes when a Rob Thackwray free kick took a deflection of Steve Kirby boot. The rest of the half remained fairly even but the visitors were a different prospect in the second half as Simon Metcalf and Jon Werrett dominated midfield giving space and freedom Phil Wix and Andy Hall on the flanks. Bridge's failure to convert some excellent chances manifested itself as the woodwork and a series of missed one on one chances kept them scoreless. They knew it wasn't go to be their day when Mark Ibbotson's 30 yard effort sailed over everybody on 77 minutes to seal their second league defeat of the season and again at the hands of one of their local rivals.
