BOROUGHBRIDGE 1, FIELD S & S 1
Field were a much improved side from the one who beat Bridge earlier in the season and for the opening 20 minutes they put the home side to the sword with their incisive passing and movement. Michael Garnett was narrowly wide and John Penn forced a good save from Hogg as Field gained a succession of corners. Bridge survived the test only to give away a 'Robinsonesque' goal on 24 minutes when Hogg missed a Lewis Whittaker back pass and could only watch on as the ball rolled agonisingly into his net. To Bridge's credit they did not let their heads drop and two minutes later they were back on terms with a brave header from Ben Darville after Ivan Willis had pushed away a Marcus Philpott header. Bridge then enjoyed a good five minute spell with Paul Eagling firing wide and Chris Stephenson missing a great opportunity from an excellent Bridge move. The second half started in similar fashion to the first as Field took the initiative and on 57 minutes they had the chance to regain the lead from a penalty.  Hogg atoned for his earlier mistake by saving Penn's spot kick, a minute later a Garnett effort flashed by his post and on 65 minutes Bridge escaped again as Josh Milner wasted another great chance. This served to galvanise the home side and only an excellent save from Willis denied Philpott after Eagling split the Field defence wide open. With time running out Danny Webster rattled the bar with Willis helpless and in the last minute the Field keeper denied Stephenson the winner which on the day would have been an injustice to the contribution of the visitors.
