Claro League Division 2 - 20th January 2008

Barwick Black Swan 2 - 3 Boroughbridge Sunday Reserves

It was touch and go whether this fixture was to be played after a week of heavy rain, but on a quagmire of a pitch the game went ahead.

Boroughbridge returning to the ground where two weeks previously, they were dumped out of the Supplementary Trophy, got off to the perfect start. In the first 30 seconds, the returning star-striker Matt Uffindal, latched onto a pass from Phil Wix, finishing cooly in the bottom corner of the net.

Boroughbridge playing down the slope in the first-half, totally controlled proceedings, and on 15 minutes it was two nil when once again, Matt Uffindal finished excellently, after having his back to goal, turning the defender and slotting home with ease.

Boroughbridge were unlucky not to increase their lead before half- time with several chances going begging.

In the second-half Barwick Black Swan came out with a different attitude, and they reduced the arrears on 51 minutes through Simon Maltby, with an impressive 25 yarder.

Boroughbridge were under the cosh at this point, but they weathered the storm, always reaking well from their own half; the impressive Phil Wix using his lightening pace to his advantage.

On 68 minutes Matt Uffindall completed his hat-trick with the goal of the game, 25 yards out seeing the keeper off his line, cooly lobbing him with measure and ease.

On 82 minutes Black Swan scored again through the ever dangerous Daniel Connell to make it a tense finish, but Bridge held on for a very deserved victory.
