BOROUGHBRIDGE RES 3 HARTSHEAD RES 2.
After last week's disappointment Manager Dave Ekin regained the Midas touch when he brought on Johnny Hunt for the last 7 minutes and his two goals saw Bridge snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
The home side opened convincingly and it was no surprise when they took the lead on 16 minutes through Ben Darville who knocked home a Steve Kirby free kick. Indeed they could have been out of sight but for two excellent saves from Damian Poutney as he denied Darville and then Dan Thirkell. Gradually Hartshead came more into the game with Brad Walton marshalling the defence and Matt Biddle orchestrating their recovery from midfield allowing the pace of Steve Young and Jamie Wadley to even up the contest. Five minutes into the second half Tom Smith missed a great opportunity to consolidate Bridge's position and two minutes later the visitors were level. A poor Mark Greenhalgh clearance fell to Wadley and though Hogg made an excellent save Young was on hand to smash the ball into the back of the net much to the glee of his team mates. Dave Coffey replaced the injured Werrett on the hour and  was quickly in the thick of the action when he was pulled back when clear on goal. Although the offender was dismissed his action was vindicated when Poutney easily saved Darville's spot kick. The was on 67 minutes and three minutes later a touchline skirmish resulted in a player from each side being dismissed along with the Hartshead substitute. Play was now very open and on 81minutes Young got clear down the right and when his cross was misjudged substitute Nathan Reed sent his side into raptures when he fired in their second. Two minutes later enter Johnny Hunt who with his first touch powerfully headed home a Kirby free kick and a minute from time proved to be Bridge's hero when he fired home the winner after good work from Dave Coffey.
