SILSDEN 2004 2 BOROUGHBRIDGE 'A' 0.
Bridge may not have claimed the points but this was certainly a moral victory as they denied their more talented opponents for long periods with a performance of resilience and endeavour. With sterling performances from keeper Richie Renton, defenders Craig Tetley Chris Chapman and Dave Burniston and the maturing Ross Mardon in midfield Bridge, together with a little bit of luck, resisted the avalanche of home attacks until half time. Their resolve was finally broken on 49 minutes when James Nettleton was allowed space from a corner to swivel and fire the ball into the roof of the net. On other occasions Bridge have fallen apart at these junctures but not this time and it was not until five minutes from the end that Silsden secured the points with a goal from substitute Laurence Waite.
