FC BOSTON 1 BOROUGHBRIDGE 0
Apart from the likes of Alastair Hogg and Steve Kirby this was a young and inexperienced Bridge side who all gave a good account of themselves against County Sunday Cup semi-finalists and potential Claro League Champions FC Boston. Both teams tried to get the ball down and play and the home side had the best of the early exchanges with an Andrew Kitchen corner that rattled the bar the nearest they came to opening the scoring. On thirty minutes Bridge were forced to reorganise when they lost Chris Chapman and their best chance came just before the break following good link up play between Phil Wix and Baz O'Neill with an extra pass thwarting a good goal scoring opportunity. The home side stepped up a gear after the interval and got the breakthrough on 72 minutes following good wing play from Kitchen to set up Chris Plews and though Hogg got good hands to the ball the strike had too much power. Bridge then brought on Dan Saxon, changed their formation to 4-4-2 and created some good opportunities with Wix, O'Neill and Danny Webster all denied by home keeper Andy Caine.
