OSSETT COMMON ROVERS RES 2, BOROUGHBRIDGE Res 0
Inconsistency and travel sickness continued to haunt Bridge as they fell victim to a lowly Ossett side who recorded only their third league victory of the season. The visitors again began on top but like last week they failed to take advantage of numerous opportunities despite some excellent approach play. Left back Steve Coghlin was the instigator of many of their best moves and such was their dominance that keeper Jonathan Barker was left a virtual spectator. Once more Bridge were undone by a hopeful punt forward which was chased down by Craig Williams and though appearing to foul Rich Donohoe he was allowed to continue into the box where the Bridge player carried out his own retribution. The subsequent penalty was duly dispatched with ease by Williams leaving Bridge to chase the game. They were encamped in the Ossett half but the home side proved intransigent with the experienced Selim Khan leading the rear guard action and when the line was breached they found 16 year old keeper Phil Wood having the game of his life with one save to deny Dave Coffey right out of the top drawer. As Bridge committed more and more players forward the inevitable happened in the 93rd minute when a long clearance was latched on to by an unmarked Williams who gleefully sealed the points for the home side.
MOM S Coghlin.
