Injuries, suspensions, late backwords, inconsistency, poor weather conditions are all plausible excuses as Bridge reached a new nadir with another disappointing performance against a team battling for survival. Again there were changes in personnel with only three of the side that faced Knaresborough in February and five who played in the victory against Bardsey on show but with the pace of Phil Wix and Ben Darville on the flanks and the industry of Ben Mudd and Lewis Whitaker in the centre of midfield Bridge should have had enough to overcome a workmanlike Howden Clough side. They looked assured and competent in the opening exchanges until a sequence of errors resulted in Chris Moore heading home a Kieran Corley corner on 22 minutes and from thereon in the level of performance dropped. It could have been different if Chris Simpson had not produced an excellent save to deny Marcus Philpott but even after the interval Bridge failed to create any clear cut chances and the visitors probably had the better of the few opportunities available.
