KIPPAX ATHLETIC RES 1 BOROUGHBRIDGE RES 3
Bridge got the perfect start with a third minute strike which set them on their way to a comfortable victory over a hard working home side. Tom Smith was the provider as his incisive pass sliced through the Kippax defence to find Andy O'Hare who coolly lifted the ball over the onrushing Richard Shillito for the opener. Andy Hall & Johnny Hunt failed to hit the target with further opportunities and were made to pay for their profligacy when Liam Gill's mazy run took him by four defenders to beat Jon Barker with ease. This was on 35 minutes but within two minutes Bridge regained the lead as Steve Kirby's sublime pass released Hunt and his shot found the net via the home keeper. There was little change in the second half with Bridge exerting long spells of pressure on the home goal and Kippax relying on sporadic breaks which were comfortably dealt with by the new centre back pairing of Mark Waddington & Stuart Henry. Bridge's inability to convert their chances resulted in Manager Dave Ekin introducing Chris Stephenson, Craig Tetley and Phil Wix for the last twenty minutes to add fresh impetus but they had to wait until two minutes from time as Wix was first to react to a lose ball and curl his effort into the top corner to end the home side's resistance.
MOM Mark Waddington & Stu Henry.
