Boroughbridge AFC Development Match Reports 19/20
August to December
05/10/19 - 'Bridge Development 4-0 Harlow Hill Reserves - League
Ben Mudd and Jamie Dunn who took on the task of re-establishing a Development team are beginning to see the rewards of their efforts as they put in a hardworking performance to overcome Harlow Hill. The side a mixture of youth and experience got off to an ideal start when Tylor Jarvis struck in the opening five minutes. The rest of the half was closely contested until Liam Spence gave them some respite with a second shortly before the break. Harlow proved to be a resilient outfit and continued to battle away after the break making it hard for 'Bridge to reach the comfort zone of a three goal lead. There were some near misses until the 82nd minute when Reece Windle added the third and Jarvis converted the fourth from the penalty spot when Phil Briscombe was brought down.
Man of Match - Tylor Jarvis
12/10/19 - 'Bridge Development 7-3 Dalton Athletic - Intermediate Cup
'Bridge started the game in a lacklustre manner and it took an early goal from the visitors to give them a wake up call. They got back on level terms when Connor Kitching whipped in a shot from the right which totally deceived the 'keeper and knew it was going to be their day when Ben Stephenson, also 16 years old, wrong footed the 'keeper as his shot took a deflection to give them an interval lead. Their first stern talk of the season ensued with the young management team of Ben Mudd and Jamie Dunn demanding a more collective and sharper performance all-round the park. It certainly worked as two quick fire goals from Callum Gray and a well-worked Sean Corbett effort put them firmly in control. A penalty for the visitors and only a superb double-save by Blayne Oglesby retained the three goal cushion. Paul Scaife with a lovely chipped finish added a sixth and as legs began to tire 'Bridge conceded a third leaving it to Callum Gray to make it ten goals on the day with a bullet-type header and his first hat-trick in senior football. The hype on the day went to the promising youngsters on display but a special mention should go to Phil Briscombe who gave a combative performance in the middle of the field and a deserved Man of the Match award.
Man of Match - Phil Briscombe
