30 Dec - Around The Leagues: Festive Break

Boroughbridge AFCFor a second week in a row their was very little action around the leagues as many teams took advantage of their Christmas breaks. The most active league was the West Yorkshire Premier Division in which five league matches and one League Cup match took place, and it was Leeds City who benefitted most as they recovered their game in hand over Bardsey to move back within four points of the league leaders thanks to a three two home win over Oxenhope Recreation. Beeston St. Anthony's in fourth, meanwhile, were held to a two all draw at Whitkirk Wanderers, whilst second- and third-bottom Wetherby Athletic and Hunlset Club suffered two one and three nil defeats against Brighouse Old Boys and at Otley Town respectively. Ripon City increased their lead over 'Bridge in sixth place, making up their game in hand over Daz Ekin's men with a two one win over Shelley to move four points ahead, and finally Horbury Town were victorious in League Cup action over Thornhill. There was just one game in the Alliance Division Two as Rothwell Town Reserves moved up to fifth with a two nil win over Garforth Rangers Reserves, and there was no action in either of the Harrogate & District Division Two or the Claro Sunday League Division One.
31 Dec - Dream Team: Half-Way Marker

Boroughbridge AFCHand of Cod will lead this season's Dream Team fantasy football competition into the New Year, remaining atop the table with a 55 point lead over Marching on Together who remains second. There has been a change behind the top two, however, as Sin City continues to bound up the table, now only 103 points off the lead. Horner's Hotshots is down to fourth but Slonka's Lot climbs to fifth. The full table can be viewed by clicking here.

4 Jan - Results: Late Heartbreak For Reserves

Boroughbridge AFC returned home with all three points earlier today after a hard fought four three victory at Horbury Town. Paul Eagling, Mike Mullenger and Baz O'Neill were all on the scoresheet for Daz Ekin's men before captain James McDaid hit home the winner late on to give his side the victory. 'Bridge Reserves, meanwhile, exited the League Trophy in dramatic circumstances against Alliance Division One outfit Brighouse Old Boys Reserves after being knocked out with the very last kick of the game. The visitors took the lead early in the first half, but 'Bridge replied through Phil Wix early in the second half and took increasingly firm control of proceedings as the half progressed. A Ben Johnstone effort off the bar was as close as Elliott Sheeran's side got to breaking down the Brighouse resistance a second time, however, and with 'Bridge already beginning to contemplate extra time defensive indifference allowed the higher league opposition to slot home, stunning Aldborough Road and sending the visitors into raptures.
