29 Dec - Around The Leagues: Towns Move Up

Boroughbridge AFCBoth Otley Town and Knaresborough Town moved further away from the West Yorkshire Premier Division relegation zone on Saturday afternoon as Field stretched their lead atop the table. Otley moved twelve points clear of the drop zone with a two nil win at relegation threatened Ripon City, whilst Knaresborough moved nine points clear of the drop zone with a four two win over Brighouse Old Boys, who sit six points above the bottom three. The results mean just Brighouse remain within six points of 'Bridge, whilst just three sides are within nine points. In the Alliance Division One, meanwhile, bottom of the pack Aberford Albion Reserves suffered a heavy five nil defeat at mid-table Wetherby Athletic Reserves, but fellow strugglers Robin Hood Athletic Reserves picked up their fourth win of the season with a narrow four three win over Whitkirk Wanderers Reserves. No action, finally, took place in either the Harrogate & District Division One or the Claro Sunday League Division One.

3 Jan - Results: 'Bridge Left To Rue Two

Boroughbridge AFC came close to booking their place in the Quarter-Finals of the West Riding County Challenge Cup earlier today at Aldborough Road, pushing Bardsey all the way before a defensive disaster saw the visitors hit home twice in as many minutes to seal victory. Fresh from a three nil win at Aldborough Road just two weeks ago Bardsey picked up where they had left off, forcing Paul Diamond into an excellent fingertip save as early as the fourth minute. It was Daz Ekin's side who found the breakthrough first, however, with Mike Mullenger bundling home Barry Pryce's cross in the 16th minute to hand the hosts a one nil interval lead, with Pryce coming close to doubling the advantage just before the break. Bardsey levelled matters up in the 66th minute after Danny Maw caught the 'Bridge defence napping to beat the offside trap, round Diamond and slot home, and the visitors took a lead they would not relinquish just two minutes later as defensive indifference allowed Nicky Seed the time and space to hit home from close range. 'Bridge 'A', meanwhile, lost two nil at Dalton Athletic to remain twelfth in the Harrogate & District League Division One.
