6th June 2018 - Presentation Evening
Rimmer and Campbell Scoop Top Gongs

John Rimmer and Jack Campbell were amongst the big winners at the annual Presentation Evening on Saturday as the Club also had chance to recognise the contributions of two retiring stalwarts of Boroughbridge AFC. The first of two special awards was presented to Dale Binns as he steps down from his position as Secretary after over half a century of dedicated service to the Club. Also recognised was Steve Kirby who retires following a glittering playing career spanning over three decades which saw him become one of the most decorated players in local football with two County Challenge Cups, a Northern Counties Senior Cup and a Seniors World Cup amongst his winners medals.

The prestigious Bob Kitching Trophy for Player of the Season was handed to John Rimmer following an outstanding debut season with the Club. Siobhan Peplow and Cheryl Atkinson shared the Player of the Season award for the Club's Ladies senior side whilst Rachel Dorkings picked up the Coach's Player of the Season award. Jack Campbell was on his feet twice in succession to collect the John Newboult Trophy for Young Player of the Season before being named the inaugural recipient of the newly commissioned Dale Binns Golden Boot Award for his season tally of 24 goals, shading Peplow by a single strike.

The Jock Richmond Trophy for Most Improved Player went to Mattie Coles whilst Alastair Hogg was named recipient of the Willie Horner Trophy for Clubman of the Year. Completing the winners were Steve Kirby who was named 'Bridge Reserves Player of the Season and Kai Campbell who picked up the respective award for 'Bridge 'A'.

A good night was had by all on a well attending evening at Aldborough Road with an excellent buffet supplied by Havenhands Bakery. The evening proved a fitting celebration of the contributions of both Binns and Kirby over so many decades of dedicated service. Binns first joined the Club in 1960 as a player and has filled roles as varied as bagman, manager and groundsman in the time since, although he will best be remembered for his stints as Secretary, Treasurer or both for many seasons. Whilst he has decided now is the time to pass on the reins he will continue in some capacity.

True blue Steve "Silky" Kirby first laced up his boots for 'Bridge in 1986 and was a key member of the Club's golden era as the silver rush delivered a myriad of trophies in the Harrogate and York Leagues as well as York and Harrogate District FA Cups. Kirby was a member of the Club's two West Riding County Challenge Cup winning sides and also lifted the Northern Counties Senior Cup. More recently he was a representative of the Club as part of the Harrogate Veterans side who won the Seniors World Cup playing as England.
