Whitkirk Wanderers 2-0 Boroughbridge AFC
Not a great result today; lost 2-0, what are your thoughts on what you saw?
Yes, poor result for us, obviously losing two nil at Whitkirk. They are top of the league and are a very good side but saying that we were always in the game. Very disappointed with the goals we conceded, 45th and 50th minute in the first half which is unusual but credit to the lads today, they fought very, very hard against a very good team. We were always in the game without really creating too many chances I thought but, you know, as I say they’re a tough side and we’ve just got to dig in for next week which for us is a big game.

Who are we playing next week?
We’ve got Howden [Clough] at home, bottom of the league clash so we’re looking forward to that. We’re not far away, we’ve got that plus goal difference, we’re still plugging away and the lads are still in good heart. We’ve just got to make sure that we’re focused on next Saturday.

Some good performances today?
Yes, some good performances, Paul Eagling back to his best today, our goalkeeper made some terrific saves, back three in the second half played very well. I think generally everyone played well, I just think today we played a very good side.

How did we concede the goals?
Both from open play: first goal a bit scrappy, went through the middle, broke to lad in box and he put it away from 12 yards. Second goal, very disappointed to concede a goal in the first half in the 50th minute when there were no injuries or anything to stop the game; the referee lost his watch, I think , but that again was just a scrambled goal through the middle, Hoggy might be a bit disappointed, he probably would have done better with it on another day but, disappointing that.

How many games have we got left in the league and how are you feeling for the rest of the season?
I think we’ve got nine games left and I think we’ve got to win four of those games to be definitely sure. I would think if we beat Howden next Saturday, depending on how Wetherby have gone on today against Howden; if we can win four games I think we’ll be safe.
