4 Sept - Results: 'Bridge Bounce Back In Style
Boroughbridge AFC showed no hangover whatsoever from last week's hammering at the hands of Beeston St. Anthony's, striking three times in the first fifteen minutes and in the end dispatching East End Park for the reverse scoreline of last weekend. Andy Layton opened the scoring on six minutes and from there 'Bridge never looked back with Dan Clayton adding two and Paul Eagling and Baz O'Neill adding one each. The Reserves also enjoyed success, beating Robin Hood Athletic Reserve by three goals to one and vaulting to fifth in the table in the process. Paul Scaife hit home a brace and Jamie Smith was also in on the action. The 'A' team put in a valliant performance but in the end a Josh Spencer-Blanchard brace couldn't prevent a three goal to two loss to Dalton Athletic at Aldborough Road.

"I spoke to Fred at 8.00pm this evening for an update. He was a bit hoarse with the anaesthetic and all the other bits and pieces he has had to go through today but the news is good. He appreciates all the good wishes and hopes to be out and about in the next few days giving us all hell.
He is particularly looking forward to two good results tomorrow which he says will be a better pick me up than all the medication.
Fred has kept his sense of humour despite all the traumas of the last few days - players - it is up to you." |

27 Aug - Get Well Soon Fred
Club Secretary Dale Binns has sent us through the following on the health of club life member and ex-committee member Fred Hall:
"Fred has been in hospital for over a week with investigations of his lower regions. Fortunately for Fred there has usually been two nurses on hand, now is that literally or metaphorically speaking, for any investigations with the first acting as the search party and the second undertaking the deed. Having recently resigned as the Referee's Assistant the Club thought that could explain the loss of the flag and the problem as on several occasions the opposition have advised Fred where to put it.
He goes down to Theatre today (Friday) and from us all at the Club who have had to put up with you for the last 35 years can you hurry up back. There are no team sheets, no-one to pick up the breakfast and worse of all it is too quiet."
All the best to Fred from everyone at Boroughbridge AFC. |

Some thoughts from 'Bridge Reserve manager Steve Coghlin on the series of pre-season friendlies and the coming season:
"Pre-season has gone okay, I feel that the club as a whole has a better structure which gives the players a sense of stability and helps get the best out of them. The new additions to the first team have helped the club overall, I particularly like their good attitude and work ethic. Competition for places is now fierce and players know that they will have to work hard at training and prove they are up for the challenge. We always talk about not just making up the numbers in the Reserves and this season we hope to build on a satisfactory pre-season. I am really looking forward to the challenges that the Alliance Div 1 will bring." |

11 Aug - Result: 'Bridge Reserves Draw At Ripon
'Bridge Reserve manager Steve Coghlin has sent us through his match report and thoughts following his team's final pre-season friendly, a one all draw with Ripon City Reserves at Malorie Park Drive:
"The first twenty minutes was pretty uneventful with 'Bridge just about shading possession. Without really getting into second gear 'Bridge scored from a Jimmy Binks free kick, swung in for Matthew Inman to volley home from ten yards. 'Bridge continued to dominate and played some half decent passing football with good movement from the starting eleven.
The second half lived up to the cliché “game of two halves” with Ripon fielding a completely different back line and introducing a handful of first team players. From this point on 'Bridge were on the back foot with the midfield and front men unable to hold the ball, the game deteriorated into a scrappy affair and eventually Ripon countered smartly from a 'Bridge free kick overloading the defence and still with a fair bit to do Ryan Thompson smashed the ball home past Lee Dearden. On reflection the result was a fair one, the pluses outweighed the negatives with the debutants performing as they did."

Ripon City Reserves 1-1 Boroughbridge AFC Reserves

BAFC MOM: Liam Barnard
